Standard MACD measures the distance between two moving averages and calls it momentum. Premium Momentum goes further. It combines a zero-lag MACD with an impulse component that reads whether price is actually pushing outside its recent high or low range, then blends the two into a single momentum reading. The result is a line that responds to real price energy, not just the mechanical difference between two lagging averages.

The signal line sits on top of the momentum line, and the filled area between zero and momentum makes the direction and strength instantly readable. When momentum is rising and above zero, the trend is building. When it crosses below, something is changing.

The optional consolidation filter is worth mentioning. It uses ATR, ADX and a Bollinger-Keltner squeeze in combination to detect when the market is ranging and suppresses the momentum reading accordingly. Fewer noise signals during choppy conditions.

How To Use It

Watch for momentum to cross above zero with the signal line already turning upward. That is your bullish confirmation. Bearish is the reverse. The strength of the move matters too, a momentum reading that pushes well above zero with volume behind it is more reliable than one that barely clears the line. If you trade choppy markets, enable the consolidation filter. The background darkens during ranging conditions so you know when to stand aside.
